Room 36 was lovely (ground floor sea view (car park side) spacious and clean. After checking in at main desk we were escorted to our room with a staff member who kindly carried some luggage. As it was a special trip (birthday) the staff kindly left a nice surprise of two wee bottles of prosecco, which was a lovely touch. After settling in we headed down to the leisure centre to use pool and spa facilities. I was most disappointed that the jacuzzi was out of order (it seems to be the case across many leisure centres ive visited recently where the costs of running them likely to be too high as a result of the energy prices at the moment. However the receptionist advised it had broken down on the morning of our stay and it wouldnt be a few days until they got the maintenance parts required to fix it. Nevertheless we made use of the steam room and pool.) Despite it being summer, it was surprisingly quiet, there was maybe only one or two other families in. The pool is open throughout the day until 9pm, slots tend to be 2hrs each of 'family time' and adults only alternating. They have lockers which you do not need to take a £1 coin to operate and as we were staying in the hotel we were provided with robes and slippers. We forgot to take the slippers with us (i used my own flip flops), the pool reception doesn't keep spare slippers as they dont recommend you wear anything on your feet as it gets quite slippy. After about 2 hours we headed back up to room to get ready for dinner in The Rabbit restaurant. We were greeted by restaurant staff and placed at a table in the middle section. We shared a starter, a main each and shared a pudding. Although a seaside location, i would have liked to have seen a bit more selection on the menu, a chicken dish other than a curry. My mum had fish and chips and i opted for the curry. It wasnt a chicken breast curry (chopped or full breast), but still it was nice.

We booked a Double room with seaview, however, we arrived at night & it was a car park view. So, we went back down & got upgraded by the lovely lady night receptionist Joan to the Carmichael Suite, which was fabulous, with separate living room & bedroom areas. What I liked about this hotel was the decor in the lobby, breakfast, bar areas, traditional & tastefully finished. Gave us New England, Maine, Old Course Hotel & Troon vibes. We live in Dubai, so refreshing to experience traditional interior. There is a beautiful golf course between the hotel & sea, doesn’t hinder the seaview from any floor on a clear day. The bed was extremely comfortable, TV in both rooms. Very spacious rooms & a lovely bath with high quality Floris of London toiletries. Breakfast was fab and comes with a view. We visited the gym, pool areas both open & there is a pool table in a lovely decorated area. All staff were great, for Scotland, they were great, kudos. The hotel is very fortunate to have such diligent employees. I would visit again but I’d only book the Suites, seems the double or king bedrooms isn’t as advertised. Be careful with pristine pictures, might present a false reality.

We were there for our wedding anniversary and required a complimentary upgrade which was lovely! We had a sea view and the suite was very spacious. The staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast had a good variety to choose from, plus delicious cooked options. We dined in the restaurant one evening - food was excellent. The lounge bar was very comfortable for sitting around in to have a few drinks before/after dinner. Complimentary game on the mini putting green at the front was fun! Pool and spa area was very clean, if not particularly fancy. Jacuzzi has a lovely view out to sea! My husband used the gym and said it had good options for working out.

It was a very lovely Hotel with friendly staff. We felt welcome as soon as we arrived and attended to well throughout our weeks stay. The spa facilities are great and easily accessible through the hotel lobby. We spent some time in the Seal Bar during our stay and found it amazing, it has a great food menu which is available to order from all day and the bar staff were happy to make custom cocktails for us and even suggested some we may enjoy. Breakfast available each morning where staff were very attentive and quick to serve tea or coffee and any hot food we wanted.

Lovely hotel and decor. Feels very special. Friendly and helpful staff. They let us have a late check out which we really appreciated. Great breakfast! Good choice, and high quality ingredients. Food and drinks were v good in general. We ate in both restaurants several times and were not disappointed. Enjoyed the swimming pool area too. We found the best time to go was between 7 and 8pm, as it was nice and quiet. Again, staff were v friendly.
